my worst packing woes was when I was traveling around Oregon for a month. I love to read and I normally take a whole duffel bag of books with me as extra luggage. my mom was griping the whole time about the lost space of we lost all that space because of your books. well if I had a nook I would not need my trusty duffel bag anymore. It would fit in my huge over sized purse and would be all I needed. :-)

I’ve always been an overpacker. I’m working on it. I’m interested in reading books as I travel, but I’d love to be able to have all of my books on an ultra slim device. If I have to lug around too much, I get stressed and bothered!

The Nook would help with packing because I wouldn’t have to drag a huge book on the plane with me in my laptop back, the book ends up getting messed up it’s bulky and it would be great to have a compact way of reading on the plane and when I get to where I’m going.

My problem is trying to pack things to keep my kids entertained both in the car and whenever we get to where we’re going. An e-book reader would solve that problem, as they all LOVE books, and of course, so does mommy!

    Where do I begin?!?

I absolutely must have reading material with me when I travel. My problem is I take too many books / magazines with me. (My husband actually got a little miffed with me last time. Not the best way to start a vacation, but hey! I need my books!)

You have no idea how sharp the corner of a book is until it drops out of your packed arms onto your toes. Ouch! But as I said before… I need my books! :->

I am an avid reader…there is no where I go without a book in tow. Whether it travelling or an appointment or to the beach..there is always a book in reach. My husband realized how many books I own when we moved last March. I had 23 boxes of books! I knew then that I had to scale down my collection. I miss having my books handy. I can read them over and over again. A nook would solve that problem and keep me reading every chance I got.

My worst packing experience was last summer coming home from a 7 week East Coast trip with my 2 kids. I was sure I packed light. However, once I got to the checkin curb I was told I was almost 20lbs or $100 over weight. In these bags were also magazines & books that I intended to read on the 8 hr trip as well as when I got home. Needless to say, I suffered the humiliation of having to so much stuff out, at the curb, and send it back with my mom to ship UPS. I did not want to leave my beloved mags & books, so I shoved them into my kids backpacks and made them carry them to the gate. Talk about upset & embarrassed. Lol. I hate packing! I ALWAYS over pack. Even during trip to the Bay Area (1.5hrs) , if I am not the driver, I have books shoved into the sides of the seats. You would think I am going to the moon!

I am sure that my kids, my husband & definitely myself…would all enjoy another way for me to always have some of my beloved books on hand in a more “confined” manner. So if you choose me you will make 4 people happy in one house!

When my four year old and I left the states to join my Army husband in Germany, I tried to pack as much as I could in my carry-on. I was an avid reader and crossword puzzler, so those items always traveled with me. After 9 hours of flying, my son and I were beat! I unpacked a little and when my son fell asleep, I decided to do a little reading in bed. I pulled my bags apart trying to find the book and puzzle mags I was sure I’d packed but they were nowhere to be found. I’m sure the fatigue and jet lag contributed more than a little when I started to cry but it was a tragic event to me that I’d forgotten to pack them.

I am a voracious reader. When I pack for a trip, I generally bring paperbacks since I can easily go through a book a day (especially in the airport, on the plane, on the beach, in my hotel room at night). To make things lighter along the way, I just leave the completed book for someone else. So you might find my books in the pocket of my airplane seat, or in the drawer of my hotel room. I hope you find it a nice surprise. But I think I am ready to change my trip planning, and the weight of my luggage, with The Nook!

I visit my folks a few hours away on a semi-regular basis, and I always take my toddler with me. This means bags of my clothes, her clothes, my husband’s clothes, her toys and gear, my personal stuff… It’s hard getting it all in one car. I pretty much never take anything to read, even though I am usually in the middle of 2-3 books at any given time. It’s just too much to deal with!

BUT, with a nook I’d be set! I wouldn’t have to think about which book to bring, I could bring everything I’m reading at once! It would be so wonderful not to worry about space, too.

I guess my worst packing woes were at Christmas when we were returning from England to the US. I wasn’t well enough to do the packing so my husband had to do it which meant that no suitcases could be opened until arrival because he doesn’t quick pack as well or neatly as I do and it risked all spilling out, and we left stuff behind. I had wanted to borrow a couple of books from the people we were staying with and I couldn’t because there wasn’t room so the nook would have helped to resolve this!

I have 2 year old twins and can’t even begin to tell you all of the stuff that we have to lug on a trip. Car seats, toys, potty training stuff, snacks, juice, and the list goes on and on. My boys have slowly taken over most of the space in my luggage so I have given up taking my own books, magazines, and even my laptop/SLR camera on some trips. If I can remember I will download a podcast to my iphone, but that usually does not happen either. They still go to bed early so I usually find myself surfing the channels to find something to watch to pass the time. :(

I can never decide WHICH books to bring, so I end up bringing too many and that takes up precious room. I looked at my suitcase, then at my pile of books, and taken my backup shoes out to make room for books. I hardly read all of them, and you can bet the backup shoes would have come in handy! The nook would really help me free up room.

Because we have to carry medical equipment, traveling with carry ons-only doesn’t work unless we’ll be gone for just three or four days. That means long delays checking and retrieving luggage when we are away from home longer. Anything that lightens the load helps. Thanks so much for the offer!

I always pack too much “entertainment” because I hate flying. I have suduko books, crossword books, travel size games, ipod, magazines, 2-3 books; so I usually have a hard time either packing all of these things or having to decide what to do away with (which is usually nothing and I overpack). :/

I’m a ‘just in case” type of packer. I bring everything so I can have the comforts of home. I took one book and five magazines on the plane for an overnight trip! Add the laptop, camera, wallet, sunglasses, snacks, bottled water, travel blanket and sometimes fuzzy socks and you have all the makings of a backache. :D

On the last trip my husband and I went on, I blew out the zipper on my carry-on bag mainly because of the hardcover book I had and a backup paperback book in case I finished the first one. We had a long flight and I didn’t want to be without some kind of reading material. I ended up spending most of the flight trying to keep everything from falling out of my carry on and had to buy a duffle bag at the airport for the plane ride home.

A nook would have saved the day and my poor carry on.

I always pack at least 2 paperbacks when I go on a plane trip just in case I don’t like one, but what if I don’t like either of them; or what if I have a really boring trip and read both? Then I am faced with nothing to read. The e-book is the perfect solution. It won’t take up as much room as even one paperback.

I love books, and they’re a must on trips. The problem is trying to keep up with the wt and size limits for carryon and checked bags. Sometimes a carryon limit is 15 lbs. I love to read but unfortunately when it comes to packing to go somewhere- books are not at the top of my list because they just take up to much room and are to heavy and bulky to lug around. Even when it comes to just taking the kids to the dentistt or soccer practice-this would be the perfect thing to bring along to read while waiting. Winning this E-reader would be great because I could have all the books I wanted on this one little thing and be able to carry it in my pocketbook. Having one of these would be the best thing ever :)

Two children potty training at the same time means A LOT of stuff to carry around (changes of clothes, wipes, snacks, etc), I’d love a nook to always have a book with me for those brief moments of ‘Mommy time’. :) There is no room in my diaper bag for much, especially a new hardcover book or two!

Worst packing woe was when I was moving from an apartment to my current house. I had packed with mostly a number of medium sized boxes that had been re-used, so the contents were confusing. Long story short, a heavy box of books got placed, roughly I might add, on top of the box holding a set of my grandmothers dishes. I lost two tea cups, a bowl, and a dinner plate when all was said and done. Certainly the nook would have been a much lighter item to move!

I’m always afraid when traveling I’ll run out of something to read. Therefore, I pack a lot of books. Heck, on an overnight trip to NYC, I took 4 (yeah, I know!) books with me. It’s ridiculous! Last summer when we drove to Kentucky I had a duffel full of books. It’s was a major pain to pack all of the books, but you’d better believe that I had at least 30 with me. See, you can check out a total of 30 books from the library at any one time (and I usually am always at my limit), plus I put some on my sons card. On that vacation, I read all the books I had brought and had to buy more.

It would be super handy to have an unlimited supply of books on one device. It would certainly make packing easier…which means a happy hubby in that mix too! :)

We took a train and car trip to Northern California and Oregon with our two kids. Each child packed 3 or 4 books to read, but read them so quickly we had to make two stops and Barnes & Noble along the way. We ended up shipping a box of books home because they were too heavy for our luggage. A Nook would have been so fabulous!

My worst packing woes, is actually the shear weight of all those wonderful books, that I MUST take with me. I have such a hard time choosing the ones I want to take with me because of their weight. I usually end up with only paperback, because the hard covers get really heavy after a while! I feel really bad for my fiancee who packed, lifted, and carried all my books when we moved recently. He was not happy with me. A nook would be great to have….light weight!! Plus, my fiancee would not have to move hundreds….if not thousands(!!) of more books god forbid we move again. :) Thanks for the chance.

Try moving every 2-3 years because you are in the military. I don’t get to KEEP books because we have weight limits and never know how much room the next house will have. Then try taking a trip with two kids, two dogs, and everyones bags.. There is never room for extras and I normally only get ONE book to take. One book lasts maybe an hour or two of reading. A Nook would be wonderful because it would help with the road trips… It would help when/if we are on the airplanes…. It would help me actually get to keep books due to moving…. I was taking my kids to Disney last year and decided it would be easiest to pack everything into one large suitcase which was exactly the right size as to avoid any surcharges. Because it was crammed it stuck out at the sides and out came the measure at the check-in and they deemed it to be too wide by one inch which was deemed to cost me $75. I wasn’t playing that game with them so opened it up and put on my jacket and had my daughters carry theirs and that extra bit of space kept it within the limits and saved me $75.
Okay, that doesn’t relate to the Nook but I read a lot and I’m sure it’s more efficient to carry the Nook in my carry-on than a selection of paperbacks!

i live in an apartment in chicago, and have bookshelves upon bookshelves filled with books. when changing apartments moving the books is always the worst part, because of the sheer amount i have. the last move, my book boxes took up over half of the dining room. so having a nook would definitely keep me from having to move more books as well as bookshelves (which also increase over time). also, i am going back to school, and a lot of textbooks are available in ebook format which would make carrying a calculus book a lot more comfortable.

My worst packing woe was thinking I brought book 3 (forget the series) but actually brought book 2. Ugh. I had nothing and had been looking forward to finishing the trilogy. In hindsight, though, it was not that good. I can’t even remember the title.

What I’d actually like this reader for is my daughter. She commutes to college via buses. She tries to make sure her backpack (which is heavy) is as light as possible. If she had a reader with her books on it . . . lets just say life couldn’t get much better for her! She’s an English Lit major so her books are probably available. I’ll have to think about getting her this for her b-day.

Thanks so much for this giveaway!

My worst packing woes are always that I have more items coming home than I left with. Add to that that I never pack as neatly and efficiently for the trip home. It’s not a nice ending to a vacation to worry about packing. A Nook would be fabulous both for saving space and for providing variety for both myself and others in the family. One Nook… lots of books!

My packing woes usually stem from the fact that most of my travel is for work-related seminars and conferences, which means I have to cram in tons of books, documents, and files with my laptop in my carry-on — in addition to leisure reading for the airplane or train. The nook would be a godsend for freeing up space (and weight) in my bag, making it easier to tote and to store during transit. Thanks for the chance to enter!

My biggest challenge is fitting all the things I need for the kiddos and having any room for my things. I have to have their favorite books to keep them happy and their bedtime book to help them drift off to sleep, and then the toys and lovies and clothes and infant gear. When I visit my Mom who lives out of state I always have to bring a separate suitcase with my books in it. I tend to read quickly and all the time. When I fly I always have that bag as my carry on and it is so heavy it is starting to be I need a carry on with wheels. With a Nook I would be able to have lot’s of books, when I need to get more they would be right at my fingertips and my mother would be thrilled if I could not have so many suitcases when I go to visit, unless one help surprises for her.

Since we have no luggage, lost when our basement flooded two years ago, we use backpacks and boxes to pack up and go on our yearly summer trip. I alone usually pack a box of books since i never know what I will want to read until I am actually lounging in the sun and know what I am in the mood for. We have to pack a ton of stuff for softball. We end up having to make 2 or 3 trips to the car to pack it all up. I would love to have the nook to keep in my purse so that I don’t have to remember to get my book as we are walking out the door. Thanks for the giveaway!

I have to take certain things when I pack and I do need things to read. If I buy some things from my trip, the return is even worse. My suitcase is ripping-the zipper…that shows how bad it is! Restrictions on weight do not help, either! This would solve that problem.

My worst packing woes with books is that alot of mine are hardcover editions and they are bulky and take up way to much room in the carry-on. I need my books with me so I usually end up leaving something practical behind to make room for my book. Stephen King versus my hair dryer….guess I have go with Stephen. :)

I often carry a book and a number of magazines when I travel. I usually read the heaviest magazines first, to toss along the way. I’d like to read in a different order, and the Nook would allow me to do that.

My worst packing woes happened when I used to travel with my band and had to carry music equipment. Back then if I was on a flight, at least one item would count as checked baggage without an extra fee, but nowadays, I’d have to pay through the nose. There are surcharges for just about everything. I used to just bring one magazine or a newspaper because I was already carrying so much. Now I probably would even manage that.
The nook would be a great help on long flights, or on the train, they are a boon to any commuter’s journey. No more clutter! Everything including newspapers in one convenient place. Cross my fingers!

The last time I moved, I had so many books, the boxes of them required their own van trip…That was exhausting. I read so much, this would really help cut down on that.

When I travel I like to take 3 or 4 books. While I’m reading I always take off the cover and it never fells , I forget to repack the cover to atleast one. Plus the weight is a killer on the back. To have everything together and light-weight would be fabulous.

I was on a business trip and had to carry with me some a bunch of confidential paperwork – I wish I would have packed everything in a carry-on with wheels because my arms about fell off from the weight – a nook would have allowed me to carry my “eliminate boredom” stuff easily!
    Thanks

I have always had a hard time packing, suitcase only holds so much.Shoes seem to
take up a lot of room, not to mention all the clothes you need while you’re away.
I like to take books with me,it makes the flight seem a little shorter. My husband told
me I pack too much and my reply is I need it all. I would love to make adjustments

I need the nook because my favorite vacation would be a beachhouse on the shore line with a couple dozen books to read. I couldn’t pack that many along with all my clothes so I will need the nook to make my vacation complete. It will save me lots of money because I usually buy several books while on vacation.

    Thanks for the giveaway

When I go out of state to visit family members, I always like to bring with me whatever I am reading at the current time. I tend to bring what everyone jokes as “my life” with me when I pack (meaning clothes for any or all occasions, things I think I might need ’cause “you never know!” Because of this, I at times have forgotten to pack a few of my favorite magazines or current books with me and am at a loss, so the Nook would be an amazing thing for me to own! Just the idea that it is small and portable and stores a lot to read would be incredible for me!

I love to read on vacation but never have enough space. The carry on can only take one or two books and I can usually only take 1 more in my regular luggage. If I am away for more than three days, I will need more books. This nook would be perfect to slip in my purse and be able to read whatever I want and use little space.

My bag once busted open in the library because I overstuffed it with library books. I was checking out at least twelve for research and I kept stuffing them in there. In the end I had to carry them all! The nook could help me as I could pack many more books in there and not have to worry about the weight of the books!

I had to travel from Toronto to San Francisco for a conference. I had to carry a 5 volume technical manual for reference while I completed my presentation. I had to pay overage for the additional weight. A nook would have reduced my travel costs. Although all those electrons still weigh a lot – it’s not as much as paper. I do this quite often so a Nook would certainly help.
