Last week I was given the opportunity to watch a screener for the new movie The Client List starring Jennifer Love Hewitt which premieres this Monday at 9:00pm. The movie is inspired by the true story of Samantha Horton, a former Texas homecoming queen and physical therapist. When Horton and her husband are laid off from their jobs, she accepts on offer to work at a massage studio in a nearby town in lieu of losing their home.
She quickly discovers that the staff members at the massage studio are actually prostitutes who service a long list of wealthy clientele. Desperate to provide for her family Samantha goes along for the ride and finds the money and drugs hard to refuse.
However she is slapped with reality when the police raid the business and she is arrested for prostitution. In order to lighten her sentence she agrees to work with police and uncover her list of high profile customers.
When her mother asked, “How she could do such things?” Samantha replies, “I did it for my family.” This statement got me thinking, how far I would go to protect the family if we were in the same position.
So many families were affected by the bad economy I imagine there are more Samantha Horton’s out there, woman who sacrificed everything in order to protect and care for their family.
The Client List is an entertaining, real story that will have you cheering for Samantha throughout the entire movie. Definitely a must see.
