I remember when we first came home with our daughter both of our parents were at the house. It was pretty hectic. But the one thing I will never forget is when we swaddled our daughter like they showed us at the hospital. Our parents who I guess didn’t use the technique thought it was silly and we were restricting our daughter too much and there is no way she would like it. But when they saw how quickly it calmed her down and how quickly she fell asleep they two started to use the technique.
Swaddling or wrapping your newborn snugly in a blanket can help him feel secure as he adjusts to his new environment. Try this technique when you baby has trouble sleeping or is easily startled by his own muscle movements, if he seems uncomfortable for no apparent reason, or if he seems bothered by the free movement of his arms and legs.
Just remember swaddling is only effective in the first few weeks after birth. And if your newborn is anything like mine she will eventually learn to squirm out of the swaddle and that’s when its time to try other methods. Watch the temperature in the room and make sure its not to warm to avoid overheating. Remember to follow your baby’s leads if he doesn’t enjoy swaddling do what he likes best.
Swaddling worked well for us for the first couple of weeks of my daughter’s life, she slept better at night and I think enjoyed the womb like feeling.

I think swadling is a perfect way to recreate the womb and give your baby a sense of safety and security while being put down to sleep. I recommend it!
