As I’m sure most of my readers are aware, I’ve taken to photography. Actually it’s more like a rebirth because I’ve always loved taken pictures and even took photography classes in college. But life happened and my SLR was tucked away in the closet, then I had kids.
And my desire to take quality pictures emerged again.
I bought my first Canon DSLR last year and now I’m a regular mamarazzi and driving my kids insane with all the picture taking. I would share some of my pictures online with family and friends but when it came to in person interaction with friends and family they were only able to view what was in my camera at the time or what pictures I managed to take with my iPhone.
Handing my camera over to someone to view pictures is a nail bitter for me, I keep thinking – what if they delete the pictures, or what if the camera drops.
So I was excited to hear about a new product that lets you take and share your photos in a portable digital photo album but that’s not the best part. The ALBUM was invented by a mom, Dominika Applova!
The ALBUM, a portable digital photogallery, makes it easy for you to share digital photographs anytime and anywhere. Best of all its ultra portable, tuck it in your purse or camera bag and its even small enough to fit in some jacket pockets. The album has a 7” display and the image quality is superb. You can store up to 40,000 photographs on the ALBUM directly from your camera, memory card, flash drive or even through your computer.
Finally, you won’t have the family hovering over the computer to check out the latest pictures of the kids. Nor will you have to play pass the camera during Thanksgiving dinner. Just thinking of the gravy smudges on those camera buttons makes the hair on my neck stand at attention.

So How Does it Work
The ABLUM is easy enough for anyone to use, even the non-technical. Anyone can navigate through the pictures with just 3 simple buttons. You can create a favorites album, change the slideshow timing and you can even copy photos to a connected device. Tired of having to email everyone their favorite pictures? Have them all bring a flash drive to the party and download them directly from the ALBUM.
You can also plug in your cameras SD card and view the pictures or download them on to the ALBUM.
The Techie Stuff
With the ALBUM, photographs are viewed on a state-of-the-art postcard sized display (7”) at a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels (130 DPI). The internal memory (4 GB) can hold up to 40,000 at ALBUM optimized resolution. One battery charge can lasts up to 3 hours, about the length of a Dinner Party or brunch. The ALBUM is compatible with any type of USB device including other ALBUMS.
The Practical Stuff
I know I mentioned the ALBUM can’t fit nicely in a moms purse or diaper bag. It’s actually smaller than my moleskine notebook and about the same width (195mm x 133mm x 14mm) and (7.7” x 4.45” x 0.55”). It weighs about the same as the moleskin and no more than a fresh apple. The screen is protected by a stylish leather case which converts into a support stand to view your pictures freehand.
With the future leaning towards compact digital products the ALBUM definitely fits the bill. There are so many people that would find this product useful – from the mom wanting to share her baby pictures with friends to the photography wanting to review session shots with her clients.
The ALBUM would make a great gift this Holiday Season. For more information about the ALBUM portable digital photogallery visit their website www.album-life.com.

I keep all my photos in my blackberry for now, but some day when I can get a digital camera I so would love to have this item! Great review!
