Are you what you wanted to be when you “grew up?”
I wanted to be a lot of things when I was growing up but the one passion that has always interested me was writing and hosting. I imagined interviewing different types of people and being on camera. It was funny because even this was an interest for me I didn’t start college with this goal. I went to college to become a physical therapist.
After taking physics and physiology I knew physical therapy wasn’t for me. My husband was a film major and reintroduced me into the creative world, where I should have started in the first place. I feel comfortable behind the camera, I love writing and creating something for others to enjoy.
So I took my first ever art class, and didn’t do too bad, though I often got frustrated because I couldn’t create what I envisioned in my head – but you know what I think the instructor could see that. I walked away with a B in the class. Then I took a photography class that I loved, you know the kind of class that required “film” and developing. It was an absolute blast. I also took a few screenwriting classes. I wound up with a degree in Journalism with an option in Public Relations.
However I took a major detour and wound up with a job in insurance, probably one of least creative jobs I can think of. It wasn’t until several years later of self study that I wound up in web design. Now I’m headed in the right direction, I’m writing now and doing “email” interviews in hopes to muster up the courage to do in person video interviews.

I like the iced coffee. I don’t even remember what I wanted to be when I grew up. Sad isn’t it? My job now is not bad. I like my co-workers, it’s challenging, and benefits are decent.
