Google+ Creative Kit – Another Online Photo Editing Tool.
Looking for another option to edit photos online, check out the Creative Kit tool from Google+
For the past several years the easiest way to make changes to an image online was using Google’s Picnik. I loved being able to edit image straight from Flickr, Picassa and even Photobucket. It was and is a great solution for bloggers; however in a few short months they will be closing their doors. So if you have images that you want to keep you need to download them using Picnik takeout before April 19,2012.
You will have the option to download a zip file of the images or you can simply transfer them over to Google+. If you were a Premium member of Picnik you will be receiving a refund for the entire annual fee – even if you are on the last day of your year.
And for those that never experienced the premium services you can use them from now until April 19 for FREE. So feel free to play around while you can. From now until the last day of service you can touch up, add textures and so much more.
So what do you go when Picnik finally does close down?
You can now use some of the same features from Picnik on Google+ with Creative Kit. Creative Kit allows you to edit, add textures and more to your pictures all online and all with Google+. Be sure to check out the Creative Kit on Google+.

Listen up…Google+ creative kit is nothing like Picnik, is one of the worst thing out there. I know I have tried along with hundreds of others..this is the worst mistake Picnik could have done, to sell oout to Google..Please don’t use the creative kit….you will not like in the least.
Aww, I like the Google+ Creative Kit. While it is no Picnik, it isn’t all THAT bad. I just wish I could easily make a collage. Guess I need to learn how to use Photoshop *sigh*.
Google+ Creative Kit is not asubstitute for Picnik. It is horrid has half the functionality at best. goggle is also snooping on your browsing habits so that you get site suggestions in your search results that steer you to sites they own. Do NOT buy into the big monster that google has become. It’s a failure…do yourself a favor and try: ipiccy.com (they are asking about features former picnik users want) or pixlr.com they have a FB page welcoming stranded/shocked picnikers and also want to become the new picnik alternative or photoplus.com They are all online editors and far superior to the evil “google+ creative s#it”. Don’t believe me? Just go read the hundreds of comments on the Picnik Blog: http://blog.picnik.com/2012/01/official-announcement-picnik-is-closing/comment-page-28/#comment-355734
Why will they shut down Picnik? It’s such a great site to edit photos. Convenient site as well since you can access it anywhere… I hope hey won’t close pizzap, since its another nice site to edit pictures.
My website uses Picnik to edit pictures so I am unsure what they will be doing when April 12th arrives. Good to know about the google + option but from what I hear above it’s not that great.
Hi Stephanie,
Awesome post! A couple of the crazy monkeys over here at PicMonkey helped build Picnik, we were bummed that it was closing too which is why we built an even better, faster, stronger photo editing site…meet PicMonkey.com & let us know what you think!
Cheers,
Jenn
Ribbet! have just announced that they are opening a photo editor that is almost identical to Picnik (built on the same platform). They are giving away a chance to win 1 of 100 free Ribbet Premium memberships if you request an invite on their site:
