Nammu is an innovative sun protective swim cap designed to protect the head head from the sun’s harmful rays in and around water.
Fashioned like a trendy bandana, Nammu stays in place during any activity. It is easy to care for and conveniently tucks away in a pocket or bag.
Although designed originally for children, adults also enjoy wearing the caps and the one-size-fits-all feature makes it great fit for everyone.
What inspired you to start your business?
My kids. Nammu was developed through my own needs; My kids love to swim outdoors and I was worried about their heads been exposed to the sun, so I was looking for a swim cap not only “cool” enough for my kids to wear but also comfortable. Through my search for the perfect solution, it became abundantly clear that no matter where we went, be it swimming pools, water parks or splash pads, kids wore UV protective swim suits and sun screen but UV protective head gear was either not effective or nonexistent. I thought that this could be a good opportunity to help not only my kids but others as well.
How long have you been in business?
Since April 2008
What did you do in your past work life?
I worked as full time web designer. I still work as freelancer web designer
Describe your ideal workday.
Every work day is different for me, and it’s depend mostly of my family schedule. I do work a lot at night after my kids goes to sleep.
What have been some of your major successes?
Nammu is now been sold in few stores around Toronto and the area. I receive very positive feedbacks.
What have been some of your major challenges?
I had to learn a lot about how to design and manufacture my business, but I think my major challenge now is to spared the word about Nammu.
On those impossible days, what motivates you to keep going?
Family is my biggest support and also few good mom friends who always there for me along the way.
What is your balancing secret in managing a business and family?
Not sleeping much… I make sure to devote time for my family and sometime even for myself 
If there was one piece of advice you could give to your children about running a successful business, what would it be?
Believe in yourself, work hard and keep on dreaming.
Do you have a favorite business tool and/or resource?
My main resource is the web, and mostly through other great mompreneurs out there.
What is next for your business?
Because I believe Nammu is important for sun safety and I try to keep it affordable for everyone, I hope Nammu can reach everyone, either through the web or by selling in major stores everywhere.
