#40milesinJune Are You Up for the Challenge
The hardest step for a runner is the first one out of the front door.

I remember when I was in high school my PE coach and sister suggested I join the track team, I was a pretty decent runner. They were always encouraging me to join the track or soccer team. But I convinced myself I wasn’t interested – plus my parents had a strict demand in order for me to join and well I just wasn’t that “good” or had enough interest to be that “great” of a student. Call it lazy or call it stubborn but I decided with such high demands I was no longer interested in sports.
Fast Forward years later and here I am running about four miles 3 -4 days a week and I LOVE it. It started on a whim – I had received some unfortunate news (at the time) and went out for a run to burn of steam and get some fresh air. That almost a year ago and I’m still going strong.
Last week I stumbled on a blog post from Hoaus of Girls via Mom Togs – presenting a running challenge in June and I thought how fun and decided to join in. You can read her post Join Me in June (Strong is the New Skinny) – by the way she’s planning on selling some t-shirt with the same slogan “Strong is the New Skinny.”
So since I’ve already logged some miles this month – I figured it would be fun to follow along with everyone else and join in on the challenge.

I’m using RunMeter on my iPhone to keep track of my runs. I believe the app is $2.99. I love it because it acts a GPS so I can change up my route on the fly – but still know when I’ve reached my goals. It also talks to you at various intervals of you choose and will post on Facebook or twitter and other social networks.
Join in on the fun! Join us for the #40milesinJune!

Yay! Glad you are joining me and speeding the word! Keep up the good work & I will look for your runs as you post on Twitter or Instagram with #40milesinjune! -Marta from Haus of Girls
Go you! Yeah, I ran at school but lost interest as soon as I finished although my dad, sister and brother are all avid runners. I would much rather hike, dance or swim!
Good for you! I’ve been inactive for quite some time now and this made me reflect on the changes this inactivity brought to my health and body. I ran twice a week before. Do you think this is enough workout? Or maybe I should do it thrice to four times in a week?
I think any amount is good for everyone, even if it is just twice a week. Good luck on your workout adventures.
