clean start challenge and beyond: staying motivated

The hardest part of running a business, working a full-time job, and managing a household is staying motivated. Most days it’s a struggle waking up in the morning, and most nights you just want to plop down in front of the couch and relax. But it’s important to keep your eye on the prize and also remember to make some time for yourself. Denise Hart from Motivational Mama suggests that moms need to “get in the front seat” of our lives.

Provoke Yourself – Instead of feeling torn and guilty about taking time for you, demand it, even if  its just 10 minutes out of the day.

Please Yourself – Train your children to respect mommy time and allow you the 5-10 minute break. I know this is a hard one especially when you have small children.

Publicize Yourself – Share your accomplishments with family and friends, reward yourself and be proud of your achievements.

Play – Stop and smell the roses and have some fun with your spouse and kids.

Denise Hart, Motivation Mama, coaches mompreneurs, soulpreneures and women and helps them to Create, Transform and Thrive in their lives and their business.

I’ll be the first one to tell you that it is hard to start taking some time out for yourself, but I can also tell you that if you don’t do it you’ll burn out fast. Last year it was all about work for me and I struggled with thoughts of not spending enough time with the kids and my husband.

This year as my business began to grow I realized that it was also important to enjoy life as well. Now we work together as a family and take some time out of the day to play and relax together.

Remember that it’s important to take care of you along with your family and your business.

I can totally relate. What works for me is planning (with flexibility in mind of course). Between running a househould, my business, and having a full-time job, I find that keeping a planner has allowed me to schedule all that needs to be done, stay on track and schedule in some ME time. Now I have to work on getting my 21 – month old to respect my Me time so I won’t have to constantly hide. LOL!

I agree I created my own planner with my moleskin notebook and its helped out a lot and I have also been setting calendar reminders in google calendar because I swear after two kids it seems my memory is horrible.
