Last week I invited a group of my girlfriends out for a dinner – we were all way over due for a Ladies Night Out – plus I wanted to let them in on a new service that makes it easy to settle the bill at the end of the night.

I don’t know about you but I hate that part of an evening…

Where the bill gets passed around and everyone tries to tally up what they owe and if you’ve had a few margaritas during the night’s festivities it makes it even harder. What usually happens is that the bill runs short because somebody miscalculated their portion or we just take the easy road and split the bill up evenly or someone just puts it all on their tab – hoping someone will return the favor the next go around.

It’s just too much to worry about at the end of a fun night out.

Serve takes all the stress and awkwardness out of the collection process. You can reimburse friends and you can even send out money request to people that owe you all with their email address. It’s also great for those friends they NEVER let you pay, you can send them the money through Serve without having to sneak it into their pockets.

Our girls night out was scaled down a bit due to weather and freeway closures but for those that came we had a great time at Casa Vega. Since I wanted everyone to try out Serve we all paid our portions upfront.
After everyone set up their account I sent them the money that was owed. The process was simple and painless and there is even a mobile app you can download to handle all the transactions right at the table.

After the event I received the Serve card which I think is pretty cool because it acts as a pre-paid debt card, I can totally see using it to manage our “going-out” budget.
One of the other features I love about Serve is that you can create sub accounts for your kids or other family members. It’s a safe and secure way to send money to your kids in college or to help your younger children manage their allowance. It’s something I’ll definitely be considering as my own children get older and more responsible.

More about Serve

Serve is a new way to settle up with friends/buddies instantly via email or mobile device
- Avoid the awkwardness of owing friends/buddies money
- Stop trying to chase down your friends to pay up

Setting up a Serve account is quick and easy

No more checks

Safe and Secure from American Express

Go to www.serve.com/blog from your computer

Get $10 just for trying it

Refer friends to Serve and get up to $50

I’m happy with my experience with Serve, I needed to call their customer service line a few times and the representatives were extremely helpful and handled all my concerns promptly.
I’ll definitely use the service again and if you sign up you will get $10 transferred into your account just for trying it out.

Plus we are GIVING AWAY a $100 credit to one lucky Bizzie Living reader who signs up for an account.

The challenge included me, the Hubs and our 5 year old daughter. Bizzie Boy wasn’t included because he’s actually too young to use the Sonicare toothbrush, but when he’s ready I’ll definitely convert him as well.

It’s usually a challenge to get my daughter to brush her teeth, I would constantly have to remind her but ever since we’ve been using the Sonicare toothbrushes she has been willing to brush her teeth whenever asked. Which has made the bedtime routine 10x easier and I have the security of knowing she’s getting a good cleaning.

A few days before the challenge she actually went to the dentist for a cleaning and they found a very minor cavity which probably the result of her late night snacking. We were given the option to get it filled or just wait it out and decided that we’ll be getting it filled. I know these are her baby teeth and they’ll fall out anyway, but right now it’s such a minor procedure I would rather just take care of it.

We are scheduled to go to the dentist in a few weeks so it will be interesting to find out if the dentist notices the difference in her teeth. I didn’t have a pre-appointment but I’ll be getting a cleaning so I look forward to hearing what they have to say as well.

I had admit we’ve had electronic toothbrushes before but it was such a hassle to use because we only had one base and had to keep switching out the tooth brush – eventually we just went back to using our regular old toothbrush. Having a base for both myself and my husband made things so much easier. I even took my sonicare brush to BlogHer this year and it stayed charged throughout the trip.

Overall we are happy with the Sonicare toothbrushes and will keep using them and I will do my very best to keep up with the replacement head schedule every three months.

I would recommend the Sonicare toothbrush for both adults and children in the right age requirements.

* While I have been paid to participate in this campaign via Sonicare and/or Collective Bias the opinions and comments are our own.

This month I was invited to participate in the Phillips Sonicare 30 Day Challenge with the Hubs, and Miss Bizzie. And even though it’s been a week the Sonicare toothbrushes have saved our lives. Before Sonicare Miss Bizzie did not like brushing her teeth – I would have to constantly ask her to brush her teeth during our regular bedtime routine. She and Bizzie Boy just never liked the process. But now things are different.

And it only took a few days.

We started out by going to Walmart to pick up our new toothbrushes. They only had the child’s brushes in stock so we picked one up for Miss B, we also got Bizzie Boy a little electronic toothbrush just to avoid any arguments. The Sonicare toothbrushes aren’t recommended for his age group (age 2-3). Miss Bizzie was excited about her new toothbrush and couldn’t wait to get the box open at the house. As we were unwrapping I asked her some questions about her teeth and brushing her teeth.

Question: How many times should you brush your teeth?

Question: What do you think of the Sonicare toothbrush?

For the past week we have been using the toothbrushes and I’ve only reminded Miss Bizzie to brush her teeth only a few times, in fact one night she had to remind me that she needed to. The coolest thing about the Sonicare Toothbrush for kids is the timer reminders, to remind the kids when to switch the brush from top to bottom, back to front.

While I have been paid to participate in this post via Sonicare and/or Collective Bias the opinions and comments are my own and my families own.

Last week I was given the opportunity to review the 2010 Lexus GX10 for a week of luxurious driving. This will not be a comparison post because comparing my Hyundai Santa Fe to a 2010 Lexus is just laughable and totally unfair to my trusty sidekick. I have no complaints about my current ride but the Lexus blew our socks off.

When the GX460 rolled up into my driveway I was taken back by the size. I thought, “There was no way I am going to be able to drive this thing.” However it surprisingly drives like a car, in fact the turning radius on the GX460 is far superior over my smaller SUV. We decided to test out the GX460 on our recent trip to Las Vegas. I drove most of the 5 ½ hours to Las Vegas, which would amaze anyone that knows me. I hate driving especially long distances. But the GX460 drives so much like a car you can easily forget it’s in motion.

Plus any car that can get my daughter to fall asleep within a few minutes of the ride is worth every penny.

Favorite Safety Features
One of my favorite features is the in-dash monitor that you can watch while backing up to make sure all is clear. It’s a wide angle camera so you can see from all view points. I also like the warning beeps when you are getting close to a wall or another vehicle.

The rear and side view mirrors even dimmed to make it easier to see the other drivers on the road. One of the things I hate about driving to Las Vegas is the lights blinding my vision through the mirrors.

Other Safety Features (from Lexus)
Family drivers will love the array of thoughtful safety and driver-support technologies,
starting with a whisper-quiet seven-passenger cabin surrounded with 10 airbags, the most in its class. Among numerous available features, the Lane Departure Alert recognizes certain lane markers and warns distracted drivers when they appear to be unintentionally drifting out of their lane. Likewise, the optional Pre-Collision System blends several technologies, including one that forewarns drivers of potential frontal collisions, preemptively retracts front seatbelts, increases brake force, and can apply brakes when impact is deemed unavoidable. Not to mention standard rain-sensing wipers, available headlamps that pivot while cornering and Safety Connect™ with Lexus Enform™, a service designed to provide emergency support at the touch of a button and is automatically notified if airbags deploy.

Coolness Features
The coolest feature about the GX460 is the push button start. Even my son was screaming, “push the button,” whenever we climbed in. Another thing we loved was the air conditioned seat cushions which were an absolute necessity in the Vegas heat. It was over 110 degrees when we visited and the car cooled off nicely after being out in the son.

We all enjoyed the extra space in the GX460 the kids’ car seats far enough apart to actually fit a 3rd passenger in the back seat and if you needed more room you could add a 3rd row.

The GPS navigation worked great and when we had trouble it was easy to get assistance from an operator. The GX460 when test drove also came with satellite radio and ports to plug in your iPod.

When it was time to fill up I was nervous about how much it was going to cost and how large the tank was because just days before I had spent $53 to fill up my own car. To our surprise the tank was not that much larger and it was pretty fuel efficient during our road trip.

For the past several months I have been awaiting its arrival and dreaming of the nights I would finally be able to sleep in comfortable bliss. I would imagine cuddling in its warmth and snuggling next to the Hubs.

And it’s finally here!

My new Sealy Mattress.

This has been in the works for awhile now – way before we moved into the new house and I have to tell you this sleep deprived mama was way overdue for a decent night sleep.

The Hubs was of course skeptical at first – it just looked like a regular mattress (sound familiar, remember my headphone story). He even murmured something like, “it looks the same as the old one.”

On the day of arrival
We were expecting a slue of people over the day the mattress arrived. My in-laws were planning on dropping by and staying over night before they headed back home to Las Vegas. My kids had a play date with one of their friends and my brother in-law was planning on stopping by.

Perfect timing…

So we moved our old mattress into the living room (it’s still there now and makes an awesome sofa/bed) with the help of my brother in-law and our kids. For some reason my almost 2-year old son thought he was strong enough to help us move a King sized bed down the hall. We had video but the quality wasn’t that great but he kept saying, “I help. I help.”

So we let him “help.” It was pretty funny because we would ask him, “You got it Cam?” He would say, “Yep.” Then we would ask him, “Is it heavy?” He would say “Yep.”

Okay so maybe you had to be there, but it was cute.

Okay so anyway, the Hubs still wasn’t impressed with the new mattress but we all worked together to put our new bed together, sheets, blankets, and finally the comforter. When we were all done, the Hubs stretched across the bed.

“Oh wow!” I think he muttered.

The mattress is just bliss. The first morning I wanted to call in sick from work, just so I could enjoy the comfort for a few more hours.

Fast forward a couple of weeks.

Since I’m a little behind on reviews I wanted to add that the mattress is a few weeks old now and we are still enjoying every minute of sleep. I love how high it sits off the floor (though my son protests because it makes it harder for him to climb in). Thank you Sealy for letting us review the Sealy Posturepedic® Signature 11-Series innerspring mattress. It has helped us get a good night sleep in between the middle of the night calls from our son.

PS. Yes the old mattress is still in the living room. Trust me next to the couch it makes a “super-duper cool” couch bed.

My daughter loves the Disney Princesses, her favorites are Belle and Ariel and she’s seen most of the movies but has yet to see Snow White. So I was excited to preview the new diamond edition with her. My daughter was scared to watch at first because of the witch picture on the DVD case, but I was able to put it on for her later during the week.

She loved the movie and cuddled close for the “scary parts” in her words.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition includes both a Blu-ray disc and DVD in one package. I don’t have a Blu-ray yet, but will someday soon. The collection is filled with some really cool extras, including High Definition 7.1 sound, an all new music video, a behind the scenes look, and gmaes for the family to play.

What is Disney Blu-ray? (in case you didn’t know)
The revolutionary new Diamond Edition provides the highest-level viewing experience, immersive interactivity, unprecedented value, quality, and versatility with the exceptional picture and sound of Blu-ray and the extended utility of DVD. Upgrading to Blu-ray offers you technology on more scratch resistant and kid-proof discs and Blu-ray players play both Blu-ray discs and your favorite DVDs.

I used to be a magazine impulse buyer…

When standing in line at the grocery store I would often find myself picking up a magazine or two and that said magazine(s) would often, accidentally of course, end up in my grocery bag. I couldn’t help it; I had to have at least one new magazine on my coffee table, even if I never got a chance to read it.

I never subscribed, I just couldn’t handle the commitment. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to spend quality time with the magazine and then of course what if it never lived up to its potential. I just couldn’t see paying for something that wasn’t a guarantee.

Now thanks to MAGHOUND you and I don’t have to commit to a long-term relationship with a magazine. In fact, you can bounce from one magazine to the other without losing any sleep or money.

MAGHOUND does to magazines what Netflix does for movies.

MAGHOUND is an innovative new magazine membership service. With MAGHOUND, you can choose from a large selection of magazines and have them delivered directly to your home. You can switch from one magazine to the other and have them addressed to different parties in the home.

Pay just one low price for your magazines and manage your subscriptions under one online interface. Go to MAGHOUND.com and check out their selection and pricing. You can get 3 magazines for $4.95 per month and 7 magazines for $9.95 per month.

Moving into a new place is always a great excuse to upgrade some of your old furniture, equipment and gear. We recently moved out of our over stuffed condo and into a more specious house, that finally gave us the opportunity to have an office again!

My favorite thing to do is listen to music while I work, it’s an absolute must, but I was always stuck listening through headphones or the not so stellar speakers on my laptop.

That is until now.

I am now in music bliss with my new iGroove SXT Speakers for the iPhone and iPod. The sound is amazing at all levels. I usually keep the music low when working, but the Hubs has thoroughly tested the volume when I’ve been away. Trust me, I know.

What I love about the speakers is the sleek modern design; they look great in any room and sound even better.

Techie Specs
The iGroove SXT is a true stereo sound system that employs dual long-throw 2.5 inch woofers in a ported enclosure and dual ¾ – inch horn-loaded tweeters. Klipsch is the only company in the iPod speaker category that utilizes horn technology, a design that delivers lifelike sound as well as produces more output using less energy.

You don’t have to worry about iPod or other digital device compatibility because there is a auxiliary input connector in the back of the speakers. The front 30-pin connector can recharge your iPod, iPod touch or iPhone while you listen. It also comes with a remote, power adapter and power cord.

The iGroove speakers don’t come with a radio and clock however what they lack in extra features the gain in true sound quality.

To get more information on owning your own set of speakers please contact www.klipschspeakers.com, for $149.99.
