I’m starting to get really nervous about this upcoming winter, we have had a very mild and uneventful summer which makes me thing we are going to have to brace ourselves for a very EVENTFUL winter. Which means we really need to reconsider our plans about purchasing a new car. My current plan, when school starts, is to walk the kids to the school then, make the trek (approx. 1 mile) to the metro station. But now I’m thinking it just might be too cold this winter to do that. On top of that, it’s beginning to be a challenge managing school pick up, chauffeuring the kids to different after school activities and then getting back for one of use to be picked up from the metro. So I think its time to bite the bullet and become a 2-car household again. Which means I’m going to have to start coughing up a ...

Driving in bliss for a week in the Toyota Venza Last week I had the pleasure of driving around town in the latest Toyota Venza. The timing was perfect because my in-laws were in town and we were down to one car. We had so much going on the last two weeks of June there is no way we would have tackled them all with a single car. We had dance dress rehearsals, dinner parties, dance performances and two extra people to tote around. Did I mention we had to move in a week too! We didn’t get a chance to venture out much to explore the DC area in the Venza but I did get a chance to use it for every day activities. I love the amount of space the Venza has and how easy it is to transfer the driver’s seat for my height from my husband’s six-foot frame. ...

An Extended Drive Event San Diego, Los Angeles, Sacramento, driving across the state in the FJ Cruiser Last week I spent way too many hours strapped inside a car, it started with my typical 2 hour round-trip drive on Monday, then a three hour trip to San Diego and back on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday I drove to work again and then drove to Sacramento that same night and came back to LA on Sunday. That is just too many hours on the road for me. The only plus side of doing so much driving is that I was able to do some of it in the Toyota FJ Cruiser. For our trip to Sacramento we tested out the FJ Cruiser to see how it handled as a family vehicle. The kids instantly fell in love - but who doesn’t driving a new car. Even though our trip was only a weekend turn ...

So upon my arrival home from a very long flight (even the cookies didn't help make this trip enjoyable Shaina) from a wonderful trip I found a box at my doorstep. When the kids came home from school we opened the box and found some new crocs shoes just for them and they were really excited. What they didn't realize is this weren't a regular pair of crocs so we decided to take them outside for a test drive. (more…)

As many of you know I participated in the 30Day Sonicare Challenge hosted by Creative Bias and Philips – we were tasked with purchasing and testing out the Sonicare tooth brushes. The challenge included me, the Hubs and our 5 year old daughter. Bizzie Boy wasn’t included because he’s actually too young to use the Sonicare toothbrush, but when he’s ready I’ll definitely convert him as well. It’s usually a challenge to get my daughter to brush her teeth, I would constantly have to remind her but ever since we’ve been using the Sonicare toothbrushes she has been willing to brush her teeth whenever asked. Which has made the bedtime routine 10x easier and I have the security of knowing she’s getting a good cleaning. A few days before the challenge she actually went to the dentist for a cleaning and they found a very minor cavity which probably the result of ...

This month I was invited to participate in the Phillips Sonicare 30 Day Challenge with the Hubs, and Miss Bizzie. And even though it’s been a week the Sonicare toothbrushes have saved our lives. Before Sonicare Miss Bizzie did not like brushing her teeth – I would have to constantly ask her to brush her teeth during our regular bedtime routine. She and Bizzie Boy just never liked the process. But now things are different. And it only took a few days. We started out by going to Walmart to pick up our new toothbrushes. They only had the child’s brushes in stock so we picked one up for Miss B, we also got Bizzie Boy a little electronic toothbrush just to avoid any arguments. The Sonicare toothbrushes aren’t recommended for his age group (age 2-3). Miss Bizzie was excited about her new toothbrush and couldn’t wait to get the box open ...

Last week I was given the opportunity to review the 2010 Lexus GX10 for a week of luxurious driving. This will not be a comparison post because comparing my Hyundai Santa Fe to a 2010 Lexus is just laughable and totally unfair to my trusty sidekick. I have no complaints about my current ride but the Lexus blew our socks off. When the GX460 rolled up into my driveway I was taken back by the size. I thought, "There was no way I am going to be able to drive this thing." However it surprisingly drives like a car, in fact the turning radius on the GX460 is far superior over my smaller SUV. We decided to test out the GX460 on our recent trip to Las Vegas. I drove most of the 5 ½ hours to Las Vegas, which would amaze anyone that knows me. I hate driving especially ...

UPDATED: New Year, New Mattress Giveaway - enter for your chance to win a new Sealy Mattress. For the past several months I have been awaiting its arrival and dreaming of the nights I would finally be able to sleep in comfortable bliss. I would imagine cuddling in its warmth and snuggling next to the Hubs. And it’s finally here! My new Sealy Mattress. This has been in the works for awhile now – way before we moved into the new house and I have to tell you this sleep deprived mama was way overdue for a decent night sleep. The Hubs was of course skeptical at first – it just looked like a regular mattress (sound familiar, remember my headphone story). He even murmured something like, “it looks the same as the old one.” On the day of arrival We were expecting a slue of people over the day the mattress arrived.  My in-laws were planning ...
