a laptop for the stylish geek: the preppy pink hp mini

Ever since the mini laptops came to market I have wanted to get one, but I just couldn’t justify spending a few hundred dollars on another laptop when I had one sitting at home. However my position is starting to shift now that I was recently given the opportunity to review a mini HP. I’m actually typing this review on the Preppy Pink HP mini – a color and style I just couldn’t resist. I can just see my husband rolling his eyes, yet another gadget that dressed in pink that he won’t want to use.

My first impressions…
My personal review of the HP Mini 210 HD Edition in Preppy Pink. I love the color and build quality of the laptop. The cover seems to be resistant to scratches from everyday use. The keyboard size does not hinder my typing ability as I thought it would. The keys are far enough apart so it doesn’t slow down my typing speed. The space bar positioning did take some time to get use to but once I did I was able to type just as efficiently as I do on a full size keyboard.

I love the convenient size of the HP Mini, it can easily slip into a large purse, diaper bag or even a camera bag. Its lightweight design won’t weigh your bag down which is important for moms like me because I’m already lugging around everything except the kitchen sink. Because I do a lot of graphic and photo editing work I would not be able to use the HP Mini as my sole computer but it works great as alternate mobile solution. What’s great is if you pair the mini with one of the larger HP laptops or any computer you can automatically sync your files to the larger computer when you get to your office or home.

Aside from being stylish the HP Mini comes with some great geeky tech features.

  • New Intel Atom N455 processor
  • Island-style keyboard that is 93% full size
  • Touchpad with click buttons at the bottom
  • 10.1” high definition (720p) display with smooth, edge-to-edge surface
  • 1 GB of system memory that is upgradeable to 2 GB
  • 160 GB hard drive
  • Windows 7

Plus some cool features to help you stay connected when you are on the go.

  • HP QuickWeb – is a fast and simple way to connect to the Internet,
e-mail, and you favorite apps in seconds.
  • Integrated HP QuickSync software – lets you sync files, photos, and
videos to your primary notebook or desktop PC when connected to the
    same network.
  • An HP Cloud Drive for storing files online

  • A built in VGA port for connection to a larger monitor.
  • Pre- Installed software like Pandora Radio, Barnes & Noble Desktop
    Reader, Times Reader and Skype

A laptop that will slip right into your purse or bag
The Hp Mini 210 is slim and light at .9” thick and 2.69 lbs which is slightly larger than a
steno notebook.

The HP Min 210 HD Edition Series is available at the starting price of $329.99 and is available in silver crystal, pacific blue, preppy pink, white crystal, Sonoma red, and black crystal.
